A few simple ways to lose weight when you first start

Everyone has to begin somewhere when it comes to weight loss, including your fitness/diet regimen. Learn how to start losing weight quickly and easily by talking to experts. Laura Burak, MS, RD founder of GetNaked(r), Nutrition author of ” Slim Down with Smoothies” and Matt Morris master trainer, programming manager and NASM-CPT, at Burn Boot Camp share great tips that you will want to have on hand. Staying focused, consistent and patient will help you achieve your goals.
Burak says Eat this, not that!: “This time, expect imperfections when you are trying to create a healthy lifestyle and reach a comfortable weight. It’s best to abandon the black-and white mentality because it doesn’t work and is always counterproductive. Instead of obsessing about calories or weight, focus on changing your lifestyle slowly.

Burak suggests, “Set yourself a goal, like, I will drink 50 ounces today, then get a bottle to make it easy for you.” Morris also agrees with Burak, saying, “This is the key. It helps you curb any cravings and prepares your body for exercising. You can avoid drinking sugary calorie drinks, which are empty calories.

Many water bottles are available today that allow you to monitor your drinking. Additionally, studies show that increasing your water consumption can help you lose weight and boost your metabolism.

Think positive! A positive mindset is a very powerful tool. Burak says, “Even when you’re feeling hopeless and down in the dumps do your best thinking of some good things that have happened in your life.”

Staying positive goes hand in hand with finding someone to hold you accountable, and who can motivate you on your journey. This could be either a diet or fitness accountability partner who will initially help you to stay on track. Morris says that once you have made these habits, you will be able to continue on your own.

Even a 10 minute walk counts. It’s better to do something than nothing. You are more likely to benefit from moving than you think. Burak says, “Be real and set realistic goals.” Burak warns against the bad habit of binge watching TV and eating while sitting on the couch.

Morris recommends setting a goal for your daily steps to help you get motivated. This will enable you to move around the house with minimal impact, and increase your activity levels.

The Centers for Disease and Prevention say that regular exercise is crucial to losing weight. Increasing the amount of physical activity you do will also increase how many calories are burned by your body. You can lose weight by reducing your calorie intake and increasing the amount of exercise you do.

If you’re trying to lose weight, increasing your protein intake is a good idea. To set yourself up to succeed, a general rule is to consume 1 gram of proteins per kilogram body weight. Morris says that this will help your body increase its metabolic rate, improve recovery after workouts, and make you feel fuller throughout the day.

Burak recommends adding berries to your oatmeal, peppers to your eggs and greens as a side dish. According to CDC incorporating fruits and vegetables into your diet is a good way to reduce weight.

Burak advises, “Eat less during the night and more during the day, the exact opposite of what your doing right now. Remember that food is fuel. You’ll need to have more energy throughout the day. You eat more at night, and you take in energy that your body cannot use.

It is contagious to incorporate positive changes into your life. Burak says, “Once one part of your life is changed, the rest of it will follow. Weight loss then becomes an after-effect instead of being the primary focus.”
